December 2019 Wallpaper Calendar – Aravali Biodiversity Park Sunset

Where did 2019 vanish or to be technically correct is about to vanish? A year almost has gone & decade is about to end and I have no clue about either one of them. It seems life has been in suspended animation. But let us move forward as I share the December 2019 Wallpaper Calendar with desi Traveler family.  This sunset silhouette was made in our very own Aravali Biodiversity Park that has given the concrete jungle of Gurgaon some much-needed green lungs.  I have been to the Aravali Biodiversity Park near the Guru Dronacharya Metro station a few times now and each time I find the jungle is getting better and I pray to the goddess that Aravali Biodiversity Park keeps on growing and the nefarious plans of land sharks never materialize.

A little trivia about the Silhouette Image of a twig made around Sunset at Aravali Biodiversity Park Gurgaon

Old-timers at the “original & usli” desi Traveler blog will know that I love clicking Silhouettes, they bring a unique character to the images with outline defined yet the features hidden. Now normally I would click images of trees, monuments, people, etc. in front of a bright background but this image was a little special and needed special efforts to be made.

First of all the subject was too thin compared to the bright Sun behind, then it was a very windy day so the thin twig was moving and not allowing me to focus, and I only had a consumer 300 mm lens which is not the fastest. And with the bright sun directly in the eyes, it was not easy to work with the camera.

But long story short some standard steps  to click the silhouette are here

  1. Underexposed in manual mode for the sky so that the twig will come dark.
  2. Low ISO, I think I was at 200, I am giving the exact Exif data in the Instagram post that will go with this blog post.  So do check my Instagram for the same.
  3. Switched to manual focus as the slender twig/flower stalk was fluttering rapidly in the wind making autofocus impossible. Once in manual focus, I used a high F-number anything above f10 should give you a good depth of field and make the subject sharp.
  4. But the main unique challenge in this image was to click when the wavering twig with the little flower was right in the center of the Sun. So for that, I switched to burst mode on the camera that allowed me to click around 8 Frames per second while shooting Raw on my Nikon D7000 Camera.
