Hyderabad Metro Rail: First Look

With Hyderabad Metro work going at full pace, Hyderabad will soon have its name in the few cities in country that have its own metro.

Hyderabad has history going back hundreds of years from the era of Qutub Shahi Kings, followed by Nizams and now it is one of the major Pharma, IT and BPO hub in the country.  When I moved to Hyderabad one of the things that I liked was its greenery and access to wildlife and nature in the vicinity of city.  You can travel just half an hour and reach Mrugavani National Park on Chilkur Temple road, travel further and your reach the salubrious Ananthagiri hills with beautiful views and historic Ananthapadmanabha Swamy temple.

Hyderabad Metro Rail : First Look at Necklace Road

One thing the city was lacking was a world-class metro, but now L&T is working round the clock to give the city its first metro rail.  After attending the blogging conference at American Corner I visited Necklace road where a life-size  model coach of Metro Rail is on display. Have a look at this small video that I created, from pictures taken from my cell phone.

As Necklace road is right next to Hussain Sagar, it is an ideal place to go with family to enjoy the breeze and have a look at the Hyderabad Metro rail coach. I saw a lot of families visiting and clicking pictures.

Entry Free: The entry is free but the parking is paid 🙂

Location of Hyderabad Metro Rail Coach: Necklace road, if you are coming from the Khairatabad side, you need to cross the Eat Street, then Ohris to further reach the end of the road near the Yatch club, there in open ground you will find the tent where the coach is on display. Outside the tent in true Tollywood tradition you are greeted with a cutout of the star of the show- The Metro Rail Coach, inside you get a red carpet welcome.  You can also buy merchandise like Mugs, T Shirts, cuff-links and cycles etc to show your support for Hyderabad Metro.

Dates and Time: The Metro Rail Coach will be display till 31st of October and is open from 11 am to 7 pm; there are some food stalls to cater to the hunger pangs that you may have.

So do visit and inform me what you think.  After traveling in London, Kolkata and Delhi Metro, I am looking forward to travel in Hyderabad Metro. There are a lot of interesting places around Necklace road to visit, click here to get a list of places to visit in Hyderabad.
