So let us welcome February with the hopes of an early spring and a very very late Summer :P.  For the February 2019 Wallpaper Calendar, we have this reflection of a Flamingo I clicked in Dubai. If you think Dubai is only about the skyscrapers and dazzling malls & souks full of Arabian Night memorabilia then you my friend must read this post about the nature conservation side of Dubai. For right in the heart of Dubai is a large population of Flamingos that thrive in the Ras Al Khor Wildlife  Sanctuary. Surrounded by the typical Dubai highrises with the Burj Khalifa within the line of sight is the little wild secret of Dubai the Ras Al Khor Wildlife sanctuary home to hundreds of Flamingos and other birds.

The birds, as well as the Ras Al Khor wildlife sanctuary, are protected by law in Dubai and in my opinion, this is a wonderful example of conservation by a major city in the world that other cities can study and follow for a peaceful coexistence with nature.

So for our February 2019 Wallpaper Calendar, let me share this reflection of a Flamingo clicked at Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary Dubai. Needless to say, I have processed the image to look like a painting.

Entrance is free for all and timings are 9 am 4 pm, Saturday through Thursday

For visitors convenience, there are 2 protected observation huts that are comfortable and easy to reach. I suggest you use these huts to watch the Flamingos and other birds without disturbing them.
