A Sunset in Kumaun:  Download June 2016  Calendar Download

Hello, June! desi is feeling hot, hot as in HOT just at your thoughts, and would like to escape with you to the mountains. For June 2016 Calendar wallpaper we have a sunset from a little town in Kumaun. I was not there to click sunset, it was a bonus.  I was in this little temple town of Baijnath on the banks of Gomti in Bageshwar district of Uttarakhand.

After visiting the Baijnath temple complex I was just lurking around as the others in the group got busy with clicking Selfies (more on that soon).

To reach the Baijnath temple complex you need to take stairs down to the river bank. Right next to the temples the river takes a steep curve.  The river is not very deep in June and I actually crossed it on foot, more so because the water is stopped somewhere upstream for some construction. Anyways, just as I was getting ready to pack my camera and head back to the waiting car, I noticed the sun behind the bridge. And regular readers of desi Traveler will know that I am a sucker for sunsets.

Anyways long story short, I waited to click the sunset to my heart’s desire and finally got the shot that I had in my mind for long. The biker on the bridge against a sunset, though a galloping rider on a horse would have been better, but for now a biker will do. The picture was also used in my post about True Wanderer a few days back but was planned as a June calendar long ago as one of the winners of the desi Traveler Calendar Contest has specifically asked for the same.

So here we are with a hot Himalayan Sunset for the month of June. BTW the colorful houses you see below the bridge was something I did not notice while clicking the picture as I was totally focused on clicking the sunset. I guess they came as a pleasant surprise to me when I worked on the image.
