Unboxing of Ultimate Ears UE Boom Bluetooth Speakers
Remember those days when everything had wires attached, including phones, yes those of you born in this century would be surprised to know that when I was growing up, phones had wires attached to them including phones, music system and speakers. Now wires restrict your movement, are cumbersome to attach and are ugly to look at.
In came the Bluetooth wireless revolution and suddenly wires were redundant and made life much more flexible for the music lovers. So I was happy to receive Ultimate Ears Boom Bluetooth speakers for review from UE, a brand owned by Logitech the computer peripherals company. When I got the UE Boom speakers I was taken aback as I was expecting a black cuboid, instead I got was a cylindrical box with purple speakers inside.
More than me it was the wife jee and kids who were happy to get the speakers as the wireless capability meant they don’t have to now listen to music from our music system that is in our living room and because of all the wires going to speakers cannot be moved.
When I was making the unboxing video for the Ultimate Ears Boom speakers, the kids actively participated in testing the same, with syncing their mom’s phone with the speakers. The kids enjoyed playing the songs at full volume while moving around the house, and screaming at top of their voice competing with the speakers.
The younger one even put the speakers in her little backpack and pretended to go on hiking.
But the best part was pouring water on the speakers, as I always tell the kids to be extra careful around electronics items. So the kids are excited that at least the UE Boom speakers is something they need not worry about spilling water on.
There are some other cool features about the speakers that I loved e.g you can sync up to 8 devices with the speakers and can play from 2 devices at same time and they have a range of 50 ft which is more than enough for our little apartment.
The company claims the UE Boom has a battery life of 15 hours that should last most day treks if you are listening outdoors. The speakers can be charged using USB port as well as with normal electric plug that comes with them. There are only volume control buttons on the speakers (though I wonder why I would walk up to the speakers, when I can control them with my cell phone?)
One of the major advantages I see with wireless speakers is that you can place them in the center of the room and their cylindrical design will spread the sound all around, unlike wired speakers that one needs to keep in the corner, or near wall for fear of tripping on the wires. That they come in funky colors that can brighten even a dark corner is an added advantage in my opinion.
Now since the UE Boom are waterproof, ( check video ) they are sure to travel with me on my hiking trips, when we can play music on them as well as enjoy some songs during bonfire in the evening.
Over all we are enjoying songs on the UE Boom speakers and, I hope I soon get a chance to take them on a hiking trip where I can listen to an old song sitting under the songs, sipping tea in front of a bonfire. Keep watching this space for more, in the meantime you can check this video I made of unboxing of UE Boom Bluetooth speakers
