Our August 2016 Calendar desktop wallpaper features the iconic Marina Bay Sands, Singapore clicked in the night from the Merlion side.  It was late in the evening when we reached the Merlion as I wanted to click the happenings around Merlion Park .  Late in the night also the area was abuzz with activity and some local band was playing songs. Tourists were flocking the area trying to click selfies with the Merlion in the background. Among all this buzz I was looking at the Marina Bay Sands right in front of me shining against the dark sky.  I have been to the top of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel during the day and was suitably impressed by not only its top floor swimming pool but also the high-end luxury shopping mall in Singapore  within the Marina Bay Sands, that is simply called THE SHOPPES AT MARINA BAY SANDS.

Like everything else around me the darkness of night and the scintillating lights of the  skyscrapers around me were a different world from what we saw in the morning.  As the cool breeze from sea reached us I concluded it is better to move outside in Singapore during the night. Not only the weather is better in evenings but Singapore is one of the most photogenic cities in the world after dark. Whether  it is the Singapore Flyer or the Supertree Show at Gardens by the Bay Singapore is just better to click in the night. Also not to miss is the Laser show at the Marina Bay Sands every evening. The only challenge is that with all Night Photography you need a good sturdy tripod to click long exposure images, that kind of slows you down to move around.

Luckily I had my little Gorilla pod with me and I carefully wrapped it around one of the lampposts near the pier and changed the setting of the camera to click pictures in the night using a long exposure.

Few cruise boats were ferrying tourists in the waters and with a long exposure, they appeared at light trails in the picture.
