The Superhero of Pochampally

The Superhero Of Pochampally Some time back I was in Bhoodan Pochampally Village, near Hyderabad. the main purpose of the visit was to meet and click pictures of some weavers who make the beautiful Pochampally sareers. While we were moving around the village which is a photographer’s delight and almost every corner offers some photo opportunity. I saw this guy in this wonderful superhero T Shirt as if announcing that he is going to solve the problems of this world. What do you say? Do wee need  a superhero for this world? What is the significance of Red color in India ?   Red is a very auspicious color in Indian culture. From the red saree that the bride wears on her wedding day to the red bangles, red sindoor that married Hindu women put in the parting of hair red is everywhere. A wedding invitation card is not considered complete unless it’s colored red on the corners.  In some parts of India housewives will make rangoli of white color in front of their doors but on festivals like Sakranthi they will make a special rangoli with Red as the central [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

Naga Sadhus & other pictures of Kumbh Mela Allahabad  There are a lot of things that happen only in India and it is just not possible to find a parallel of them anywhere in world. Kumbh Mela is one such relegious event. Buddhist Museum On Nagarjunakonda Island

A visit to Buddhist Museum On Nagarjunakonda Island in Nagarjuna Sagar As written in an earlier post we took the boat to Nagarjunakonda island to visit the Buddhist museum on Nagarjunakonda island. We arrived suitably shaken and stirred on the island and were a witness to the great Indian rush to get out of the boat once again. Immediately after the boat docking platform there is a steep ascent to rise to the hill, remember Konda means hill in Telugu and Nagarjunakonda means the hill of Sage Nagarjuna, which is also the name of Telugu superstar Nagarjuna who seems to be getting younger with every [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

The Baobab Tree and Ranganath Temple Nanakramguda Village Hyderabad

Old Baobab Tree & Rangnath Temple Nanakramguda Hyderabad Before Chandra Babu Naidu said “ Let there be Investments in IT”, Nanakramguda was a sleepy village with its only claim to fame being 400-year-old  Sri Ranganatha Swamy temple. Today it is difficult to find from the main road as it is surrounded by glass faced IT parks. But my reason for visiting Nanankramguda village was not to visit the temple, though I did click some pictures from outside of the temple. No, I am not an atheist; I will tell you why I did not enter the temple later in the [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]
