Wild Elephant Watching in Wayanad Kerala Wayanad in Kerala has some of the densest forests in India and is home to a variety of birds and animals. Though many of hills are stripped of their natural cover to make way for coffee and tea plantation there are still stretches where sunlight finds it arduous to reach the forest floor.  This belt of Wayanad, Mudumalai, Bandipur and nearby other national parks like Nagarhole, Kabini, Malabar Wildlife Sanctuary, BRT etc. are all part of Nilgiri Biosphere and  a very important biodiversity hotspot. Anti Poaching Camp in Bandipur Tiger Reserve- A day in life of A Forest Guard

A visit to the Anti Poaching Camp- Bandipur Tiger Reserve As part of our Eco Volunteer Training program we were to visit an Anti Poaching Camp in the Bandipur Tiger Reserve. I will not repeat here why anti poaching camps are needed, we all know we have only about 2500 tigers left in the wild and our apex predator is in great danger from organized poaching camps to man animal conflict leading to casualties on both the side. Stay at Forest Rest House in Bandipur Tiger Reserve

  Karnataka Forest Department Rest House- Staying in the middle of Bandipur Tiger Reserve As part of our training for the Eco Volunteer Training program jointly organized by Karnataka Forest department, Eco Tourism Development board of Karnataka and Jungle lodges and resorts we had two options of stay: Stay in absolutely beautiful  and bordering luxurious JLR resort and pay around 17 thousand Rupees Stay in absolutely beautiful but basic Forest department residential complex in Bandipur Tiger reserve and pay around 4800 Rs.
