Around Bhongir Fort Part II

Bhongir Fort On The Rock This is the second post in the Bhongir Fort Series Here is the earlier post about Surendrapuri the museum of Hindu Mythology We parked the car next to the house of Sri’s friend and decided to walk up to the Bhongir fort. Sri’s friend actually works in USA, and was not aware that we are visiting his ancestral home with an American. The ascend to the fort is very steep and within less than 5 minutes I was panting and remembering all the aloo parathans, pizzas and burgers that I have gulped down for [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

Around Bhongir Fort- Surendrapuri A Museum of Indian Mythology

A Museum of Hindu Mythology: Surendrapuri We have been living in Hyderabad for some time and I have visited the Golconda fort many times. It has been one of the default historical spot for us to go whenever we were giving a guided tour to our guests both from India or my colleagues from US. Our CTO Tom has been to India many times and he is probably equally familiar with the city of Nizams by now if not more than me. So when this time Tom was in town me and my colleagues were in dilemma what to [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

But I think there could be a reason for choosing head of an elephant for the wisest of the gods.  Elephants themselves are one [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

How To Reach Nanded: One can reach Nanded from Hyderabad either via NH7 bypassing Medak Town and then joining the NH16, then taking a left turn from Nirmal on NH 222, the other way is through NH 9 till Sangareddi and then taking the state roads. Since the roads in Andhra Pradesh were good we decided to go through Sangareddi as it was shorter by almost 50 KM. The roads were good but the moment we entered Maharashtra, it dawned on me why the sales of SUVs is increasing in India. If things remain similar India may have to [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

Trip to Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary : A Bird watching with kids

Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary- An Oasis in Concrete Jungle of Gurgaon We live in concrete and glass jungle called Gurgaon the city that encroached on the fertile lands of Haryana, taking over one field at a time. But among all this lies the Sultanpur bird sanctuary in Gurgaon on the other side of the highway close to ancestral village of Nawab of Pataudi. Sultanpur bird sanctuary is a less famous compared [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

Another visit to USA

Snow in Parking Lot Trees Without Leaves I arrived in US for some business trip last night. My first trip to US was in 1997. It was a different world during those days. Internet was still in its nascent stage and some of the net giants like Google, Facebook, Twitter, eBay etc. have not been formed still or were still in very early stages. The dotcom bubble was still a few years ago. I took a KLM flight from Delhi to Amsterdam and a lot of Indians were in the plane. We had some Indian and some European stewardesses [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]
