Train To Pakistan

When we traveled to see Pakistan We were debating where to go on our next holiday and it soon turned into a heated debate as always. Finally, I said let us take a train to Pakistan and show you the land of your ancestors, to the missus. You see her parents were born in pre-partition India and she sometimes wishes to go and see the village where here forefathers lived. But she brushed this aside as another joke of mine. But I went online to book tickets in tatkal for Delhi-Amritsar Shatabdi train and offered to help with the packing of [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

Hyderabad Metro Rail

Hyderabad Metro Rail: First Look With Hyderabad Metro work going at full pace, Hyderabad will soon have its name in the few cities in country that have its own metro. Hyderabad has history going back hundreds of years from the era of Qutub Shahi Kings, followed by Nizams and now it is one of the major Pharma, IT and BPO hub in the country.  When I moved to Hyderabad one of the things that I liked was its greenery and access to wildlife and nature in the vicinity of city.  You can travel just half an hour [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

Camel Herders in Town

The Camel Herders are in Town On my way to American Corner in St. Francis college,  I was stuck in traffic, and cursing myself for not      taking the other route. Slowly I inched towards the epicenter of the jam and found 6-7 camels and camel herders hogging the road, oblivious to the chaos around.  While I was trying to practice my anger management 101, the camels discovered something chew-able on the side of road and started munching the Castor oil bushes  they have found. This cleared the road and vehicles zipped passed.  Not me, I now wanted to click [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

Aahaar Kuteer Begumpet-The Millet Restaurant

The Magic of Millets at Aahaar Kuteer Begumpet We visited Aahaara Kuteer a very unique restaurant in Begumpet Hyderabad. In this age of French Fries, Double Sundae and 2 liter coke bottles it takes a true entrepreneur to start a restaurant that is based on Millets. Millet what? You may ask if you are like most city folk whose staple diet is made of Pizza, Pasta and butter Naan all product of refined wheat flour or Maida. With no fiber to aid digestion and add bulk to your food the super refined flour is responsible to a large extent [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

Jewel Bugs Of Mother Nature-Chrysocoris bugs

Jewels Bugs:  Nature Notes  Nizam of Hyderabad was once considered one of the richest men on earth with a collection of gems and jewelry that was unparalleled in the world. It is believed he used Jacob diamond one of the largest diamonds ever mined as a paper weight. Legend has it that a lot of his treasure is still hidden in different parts of the erstwhile Hyderabad State.  So you can imagine my joy when I found this beautiful precious stone in the bushes on the banks of Ameenpur Lake where I had gone for bird watching.  I was [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

7 Tombs of Qutub Shahi Emperors Hyderabad

7 Qutub Shahi Tombs: The Resting Place of Golconda Emperors This weekend I once again visited the 7 Qutub Shahi Tombs, where 7 generations of the Qutub Shahi Emperors are resting. The tombs are on the way to Golconda fort but are normally given a miss by most of the visitors, who are happy to visit only Golconda Fort. But once you visit the Qutub Shahi Tombs you will realize what you have missed. I think it won’t be wrong to say that Qutub Shahi tombs form the Golden Triangle of Hyderabad along with Golconda Fort and Taramati Baradari from the [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

Pictures of Comic Con

Comic Con Pictures So as planned we visited Comic Con today, there was a serpentine line waiting to enter the venue in Hitex Exhibition Center. (I have never been able to fathom how a line can be serpentine, because if it is serpentine it cannot be a line!) Finally we gained entry after giving my name, email, phone number, I wonder how many junk mail and cold calling agents are getting ready to bombard me with everything from snake oil to height increasing pills? But I was still glad they did not ask for my blood group and finger prints. [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]
