When we got caught in Election Campaign in Kerala
We we were traveling in Kerala it was election time, and now the elections have ended and we are all waiting for the results of the largest elections in the history of mankind. As yesterday I launched a twitter contest on desi Traveler, I thought this Tuesday we will give a travel picture. Then I remembered this picture that I clicked spontaneously in Kerala. The picture has a very interesting story.
We were walking towards our a boat jetty in Alleppey to for our backwaters tour in Kumarakom, when we saw this small group of people walking and shouting some slogans. Our blogger friend from Brazil, who now lives in New Zealand was clicking their pictures when they invited him to pose with them. Now Oscar does not understand a word of Malayalam ( not that I do!), but everything happened so fast and suddenly Oscar was in middle of all these election campaigners and he was the star of the moment. Every body wanted to pose with him and Oscar obliged though he sure was a bit puzzled by this sudden interest of all the people in posing with him.
After the posing was over and everybody moved to continue with their campaigning, we joked with Oscar that if he forms a party in India he would sure win the elections. But I guess he is happy traveling around the world and writing about it.
Here are two of his blogs that he publishes: MouOscar and the new one: Viajoteca, both the blogs are in Portuguese, but can be easily translated in English using Google translator to read the unique perspective that Oscar brings being a world traveler and living as an Expat for many years now. His posts about Kerala are just too good to be missed and the pictures will transport you to Kerala.
