Karma Chameleon

I started my day with the hopes of capturing a few photos of the elusive dark blue Hummingbird that I have been spotting every day in the flower bed. But it has been proving too fast to be captured on my phone the only equipment I have when I come down every morning to drop my daughter for her school bus. So today I came down armed with my Nikon D7000 and 55-300 lens hoping to be faster than the hummingbird.  But the hummingbird had other plans and had decided to take off the moment it saw me equipped [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

Birds Around Us in Hyderabad

Birds around  us give happiness without any expectations As part of my project to photograph birds around  us our apartment complex  I have clicked photos of the bird that visit the complex. I spoke to the Customer Service team of the complex and we are collaborating to install some bird nests and bird feeders build by Nature Forever Society, whose founder Mohammad Dilawar was featured in Time Magazine some time back. Bird watching in Hyderabad At ICRISAT- part II

We again visited ICRISAT campus with Purushotham Rudraraju  who was leading the GHAC group. ICRISAT is one of the best places for Bird Watching in Hyderabad. Today was not a very successful day from clicking photographs of the birds point of view even though we spotted 50+ species of the birds in the ICRISAT Campus. The lake that was brimming with water last month was almost empty and most of the water birds have already left. The branches of the tree that used to bend due to the weight of the birds was mostly deserted. Hopefully this year we will [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

Night Trekking In Ananthagiri Hills Vikarabad

A Family Trip For Trekking in Ananthagiri Hills Vikarabad   We keep on going on vacations but most of the vacations with kids are sightseeing trips where you try to force fill 5 points on the local guide’s agenda into your day. More time is spent in posing for pictures than to soak the beauty around and then we buy things that are factory made but are peddled as either local handicraft or tribal art. This changed last December; we participated in a family night out with GHAC or Great Hyderabad Adventure Club for trekking in Ananthagiri hills Vikarabad. [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

View From Our Balcony

The tallest building I have been on top is Sears towers (now Willis Tower) in Chicago many moons ago. Though it was a cloudy day the view was still breathtaking, 2 years later I went to the top of Eiffel Tower in Paris, France and again was mesmerized by the view. (I was also cheated by a photographer there, but that is another blog post) So when we moved to Mumbai after marriage I was looking for the tallest building to live which I could afford, finally we moved to 20th floor of an apartment complex that had a breathtaking view [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

Bird Watching At ICRISAT

Today early morning I joined a GHAC group to go for bird watching at ICRISAT, which is a United Nations research centre that stands for International Crop Research Institute for Semi Arid Tropics. It is an oasis that is maintaining its greenery in the concrete jungle that Hyderabad is becoming. It is located on the Mumbai Highway from Hyderabad just before the toll plaza after BHEL. I miscalculated the time and reached late, by that time everybody has already started the expedition. Now ICRISAT is a huge campus with hundreds of acres of research farms, it also has many natural lakes and [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

Baby Elephant Playing in River in Coorg

Baby Elephant In Coorg Recently we went to Coorg in Karnataka.  We were informed that there is an elephant training camp on the banks of a river managed by the forest department. We could not resist to visit it, not knowing that we will fall in love with a baby elephant. The camp has many elephants both male and female, but one young one stole our heart by his naughty activities and playfulness. He was not in chains unlike his elders and was enjoying his morning bath in the river. Discovering A Cloth Throwing The Cloth Going For The [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

Its A Jungle Out There

Little Creatures around us found in cities Our cities and suburbs are daily loosing their green cover and slowly but steadily becoming concrete jungle. Especially the suburbs have changed their character drastically from once encroaching on the green cover and fields today they the concrete jungle has firmly taken root and this change is irreversible. When we moved in my parents home in distant suburb of Rohini in Delhi some 20 years agoone could still hear Peacocks in distance and an occasional sighting was not rare. Those days are a distant memory, so when we moved to Kondapur in [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]
