Musings from McLeod Ganj - The Rahi On Road Trip to Himachal

Stories from Rahi On Road Trip to Kangra in Himachal   We were not supposed to be in McLeod Ganj, but for some reason, we  reached McLeod Ganj and decided to explore the overcrowded Bazaar of McLeod Ganj. We visited the Dalali Lama Temple, haggled with vendors, looked at all the eye candy around us, tried to flirt with a few, clicked a lot of horrible pictures that would never be put to any use.  After being a tourist in McLeod Ganj, in Himachal Pradesh, we were rushing to our next stop, famished we zeroed on a Pizza Joint [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

Dhankar Lake Trek in Spiti

Trekking to Dhankar Lake from Dhankar Monastery in Spiti I am not much of a trekker, at least not anymore ever since I worked really hard ( or hardly ?) to acquire that extra tire around my waist.  So most of the treks I go now are short quick treks where after a few hours I can sit and watch clouds make patterns in the sky while I plot my next best seller novel ( yes there are a few stories deep inside me, and don’t ask me what stage of writing I am ).  One such trek I [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

Top 10 Outdoor Adventure Travel Clubs In India: Biking, Trekking, Running, Mountaineering

Top 10 Outdoor Adventure  Travel Clubs In India for Biking, Trekking, Running, Cycling, Rock Climbing & Mountaineering  When I started trekking I always struggled for partners. Most of my friends wanted to travel but their idea of travel was to go to a touristy place, get drunk and play cards and may buy some souvenirs.  It was so difficult to find like-minded people who a lot of time I ended up backpacking on my own without anybody with me.  Today thanks to the power of internet connecting with like minded people are such a breeze.   But still, a lot [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

Road Trip To Ananthagiri Hills from Hyderabad

Driving to Ananthagiri Hills Vikarabad from Hyderabad There is no bigger joy for a driving enthusiast than to slowly drive on a winding hill road with the windows of your car down, cool breeze kissing your forehead and humming in your ears songs of the wild brooks. Yes wild brooks that you can hear in a distance but you can’t see beyond the dense foliage, but the sound is inviting. So you park your car, follow the sound and once you have gone down a few meters in the bushes, you discover a small brook coming out of rocks [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

Sanjay Gandhi National Park- Borivali

When you are looking to click wildlife there are days when lady luck is smiling at you and then there are days when the she is laughing at you! Last weekend Desi Traveler was in Mumbai  for some personal work.  We have lived in Mumbai for more than a year, and did most of the touristy things in that one year- Juhu Beach, Elephanta Caves, Gateway of India etc. One of the regrets I always had was not been able to visit Borivali National park or Sanjay Gandhi National Park in Borivali, a green oasis in the middle of [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

Hiking in Peerancheru Boulders

Today in the morning I went for hiking in Peerancheru boulders near our apartment with a GHAC group. My wife was kind enough to make a cup of tea for me at 6 am in the morning.  We both had the tea together and then I left for the meeting point with the GHAC group that was coming.  We started the day with the introduction round by forming the circle and Shraddha the group leader gave instructions like: ·         No littering, ·         No talking loudly or disturbing any birds or animals in area ·         No breaking away from the group etc. Under [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

Night Trekking In Ananthagiri Hills Vikarabad

A Family Trip For Trekking in Ananthagiri Hills Vikarabad   We keep on going on vacations but most of the vacations with kids are sightseeing trips where you try to force fill 5 points on the local guide’s agenda into your day. More time is spent in posing for pictures than to soak the beauty around and then we buy things that are factory made but are peddled as either local handicraft or tribal art. This changed last December; we participated in a family night out with GHAC or Great Hyderabad Adventure Club for trekking in Ananthagiri hills Vikarabad. [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

Some Pics From Morning Walk

Every once in a while I get Josh to get up and take a morning walk, this urge has been getting stronger ever since we moved to our new home. The apartment complex is surrounded by greenery and a small lake that is still alive with fish and other creatures which attract a lot of birds. Morning Sun Reflecting At The Entrance To Complex The Sun Slowly Rising Behind the Lake Some days back I clicked some pictures from my phone while taking a morning walk that I am pasting here. As you will see while Mother Nature is [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]
