Skywatch Friday- The Famous Pallava Shore Temple In South India
Last week in Skywatch post I posted a picture of the top of a famous temple and asked it to be identified for a gift in form of printout of any picture from desi Traveler blog. I was not sure how many people will get the answer right. But I was pleasantly surprised to see many correct answers to the question. Though some of the answers were given on Facebook and they do not count as the answer was to be posted in the comments on the blog post. Anyway without keeping the mystery I will give the answer right here, that the temple is the Shore Temple in Mahabalipuram, now called Mamallapuram, in Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu. Well I am giving again a picture from the same famous Mahabalipuram temple in Tamil Nadu, India for Skywatch friday this week also. A lot of you both on blog as well as on Facebook answered as Hampi, but as I mentioned in my earlier post, the Temple of Hampi is in active worship, while the Shore Temple Mahabalipuram is not used for active worship.
The picture was taken some time back when I stopped at Shore Temple Mahabalipuram, while returning from Pondicherry via East Coast Highway to catch a flight from Chennai Airport ( A story that needs to be told in a future post)
Those of you who have given the correct answer and liked the Facebook page of desi Traveler ( Neeraj, Rajesh, Bhargav at the last count) kindly send me your address and link to one picture from this blog that you will like a large 12X18 printout, sent to your address. You can use the contact desi Traveler form for the same. Do visit Skywatch Friday for more pictures of Sky from around the world. Also Linking to Weekly Photo Challenge with the theme UP
