Birds Around PBEL City - The Lake Front

Typical human tendency is to go to exotic locations and totally ignore things that are around us. If I have to quote a hindi saying then….. ” Ghar Kee Murgee Daal Barabar” . This has been the case with me I have been going to various bird watching tours in city and to various national parks and mostly ignoring the Peerancheru lake right next to our home in PBEL City.  A Flock of Geese Take Off On Spotting Me Stork In Flight Greater Coucal So some time back when I had some time to kill and the sun was [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

Birdwatching at Mrugavani National Park Hyderabad Telangana

A Visit To Mruguvani National Park for Birdwatching  Recently I went again to Mrugavani National Park in the morning,  I got up without an alarm at 7 am on Sunday and thinking this is some divine sign decided to hit the road. It is only about 5 km from our home and is one of the last surviving green lungs for the city of Nizams. It is approachable both from Mehdipattnam via Lunger House and Hitech City via Outer ring road on the way to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport Shamshabad. You take exit 18 on the airport highway on the Vikarabad [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

Birds Around PBEL II

Observing Birds in City Bulbul The humming bird remains elusive and is beating the fastest shutter speed I have tried. It seems Shutter priority mode is is not the thing to do. But I was lucky again and caught the Indian Bulbul and a Pied Bushchat enjoying a worm.  The Early Bird Catches The Worm I will continue to try to shoot the Hummingbird, any suggestions on camera settings would be welcome. Karma Chameleon

I started my day with the hopes of capturing a few photos of the elusive dark blue Hummingbird that I have been spotting every day in the flower bed. But it has been proving too fast to be captured on my phone the only equipment I have when I come down every morning to drop my daughter for her school bus. So today I came down armed with my Nikon D7000 and 55-300 lens hoping to be faster than the hummingbird.  But the hummingbird had other plans and had decided to take off the moment it saw me equipped [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

Birds Around Us in Hyderabad

Birds around  us give happiness without any expectations As part of my project to photograph birds around  us our apartment complex  I have clicked photos of the bird that visit the complex. Bird watching in Hyderabad At ICRISAT- part II

We again visited ICRISAT campus with Purushotham Rudraraju  who was leading the GHAC group. ICRISAT is one of the best places for Bird Watching in Hyderabad. Today was not a very successful day from clicking photographs of the birds point of view even though we spotted 50+ species of the birds in the ICRISAT Campus. The lake that was brimming with water last month was almost empty and most of the water birds have already left. The branches of the tree that used to bend due to the weight of the birds was mostly deserted. Hopefully this year we will [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

View From Our Balcony

The tallest building I have been on top is Sears towers (now Willis Tower) in Chicago many moons ago. Though it was a cloudy day the view was still breathtaking, 2 years later I went to the top of Eiffel Tower in Paris, France and again was mesmerized by the view. (I was also cheated by a photographer there, but that is another blog post) So when we moved to Mumbai after marriage I was looking for the tallest building to live which I could afford, finally we moved to 20th floor of an apartment complex that had a breathtaking view [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

Trip to Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary : A Bird watching with kids

Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary- An Oasis in Concrete Jungle of Gurgaon We live in concrete and glass jungle called Gurgaon the city that encroached on the fertile lands of Haryana, taking over one field at a time. Most of the ponds that enriched the water table were filled with the construction debris and the oldest mountain range in the world Aravalis was brutally mutilated by the mining lobby. But among all this lies the Sultanpur bird sanctuary in Gurgaon on the other side of the highway close to ancestral village of Nawab of Pataudi. Sultanpur bird sanctuary is a less famous compared [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]
