Let us spread some positive news and actions: SoCh

An Evening well spent: SoCh a breeze of positivism We are so used to hearing all kind of negative news, that anything good, positive is totally lost in the cacophony of negativity around us. But there are people around us who are actively and structurally working to make sure we do not forget that there is hope and love to be spread around us and there are people who are already doing it without anybody knowing much about it. Once such event I attended this Sunday was the 2nd session of SoCh, a very unique event that showcases the [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

Sunset in Tadoba

Sunset in Tadoba: Stuck  We have a saying in North India, “Aasmaan Se Tapka, Khajoor main Atka”, losely translated it mean: “Fell from sky, but got stuck in the date palm tree”. The gist is that though you have fallen you are still high enough. This is the exact feeling I had when I clicked this picture in Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve or TATR. The sun almost appears to be stuck in branches, hence my remembering ” Aasmaan Se Tapka, Khazoor main Atka”, what do you say? More posts in Tadoba series: Telia Tiger Cubs Also linking the same to [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

A Soap Foam like bug: Spittlebug

Spittlebug: The Soap Foam Bug A few days ago I wrote about our visit to the Nature farm where they grow organic food and do not use any chemical pesticides. While walking on the farm I noticed a small foam kind of thing on one of the plants. It was as if somebody was washing clothes and dropped some soapy foam there at best or somebody had spit at worst.  As it was just below a wild flower it was looking rather out-of-place. I clicked a few pictures and was wondering what it could be. I remembered something called Foam [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

desi Halloween and memories of Tesu and Jhanji

Halloween in India  I remember when I was a kid in Delhi, we had a fun festival before Diwali in which boys will carry a small toy made of sticks with a clay head called Tesu, who was slain prince from Mahabharata to neighborhood  homes and ask for money or goodies. The girls in turn will have a small perforated clay pot with a small Diya lighted in it and they too will go to the homes in neighborhood and sing ” Jhanji do jee Jhanjee do” The boys will sing: “Tesu do jee Tesu do” and continue something [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

New Life for Old Diyas For Diwali - Going for a Green Diwali

Celebrating a Green Diwali – Reusing Old Diyas For Diwali Diwali is around the corner, the biggest festival in India, celebrated by the majority of India in a big way. We will all light Diyas and candles, burn crackers and exchange gifts. But like most festivals in India be it Ganesha Chaturthi, Durga Puja or Kumbh Mela, Diwali also leaves a trail of destruction, pollution, and garbage around us, all in the name of celebration. I  always try to make my travels and life as green as possible in today’s age of fossil fuels. So from celebrating Green Ganesha to [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]
