Bandish Projekt

We attended the performance by Bandish Projekt in our apartment complex in PBEL City organized as part of Hydourite. The Bandish Projekt is a fusion of Electronica dance music with urban folk. It was an electric performance with sufi singer Runa Rizvi, accompanied by flute of Shreyas Dave and Mayur Narvekar on instruments and keyboards. Mayur, Runa and Shreyas It had rained heavily during the day and I was not sure if the performance will happen. Fortunately thanks to the weather gods by evening the sky was clear and we had a pleasant evening. The lawns of the compound [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

Dasha-Avatara The Dance Of The Sands

Dr.Anupama Kylash- The Danseuse  I was raised on a healthy staple diet of mythological sagas by my grandparents, which was later supplemented by Uncle Pai’s “Amar Chitra Katha”. Then came the idiot box with a single mission to dumb down the viewers and yours truly meekly obliged. Hence slowly losing touch with all the stories one has heard and read as a child, reaching to the point that one forgot that the original superman was our very own Hanuman who crossed the ocean many millennia ago in search of the beloved of lord Rama.   Any ways enough of my [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

Freedom Ride- Bicycles For Freedom

As I have written in past philanthropy  in India normally means going to temple to donate soiled currency notes or install fans on the ceilings of Dharam Shala in a  holy town like Benaras. Some more adventurous ones will get a bench installed in a park with the names of their seven generations painted on bench to forever kiss the bottoms of the people using the bench.(Why do people do that to their ancestors?) Some companies have  a robust CSR or corporate social responsibility initiative which in many cases is just an annual photo op kind of event. Tried My Hand At Panning Shots So [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

Durgam Cheruvu With GHAC Nature

Rediscovering Nature in the IT Corridor of Hyderabad at Durgam Cheruvu The Birders at Durgan Cheruvu Durgam Cheruvu was named because it meant Secret Lake and was very difficult to both find and reach. During the times of Qutub Shahi Sultans the lake was surrounded by jungle so thick that except for few locals nobody knew of its existence. Its water was pure and potable, so the sultans built secret system of pipe lines to take the water from the lake to the Golconda Fort around  10 KM away to the top of the fort using a very innovative [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

View From Our Balcony II

I have been travelling for some time both for business and for clicking pictures. All this while I have been so busy that did not have time to look out of balcony of our apartment. Is is not surprising that one travels to far off places to click pictures but totally ignores beauty around us?  Today morning was a especially beautiful day and I decided to stand in balcony for some time with my camera. Hyderabad has been blessed with really good monsoon this year and the surroundings to our apartment has changed totally. The Sufi Shrine The Blooms In Garden [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

Bidar Fort and Gurudwara Nanak Jheera

Bidar in Karnataka is a sleepy, dusty town about 140 KM from Hyderabad. Long ago Columbus uncle started in search of India but reached America, so much for missing the target and getting famous. Any ways I am not sure if he ever discovered that he has never discovered India but a continent that was so far not known to the western world. It is believed that Chinese sailors have reached America before Columbus and also some Viking Warriors. Any ways the credit was given to Columbus and the native Americans were named Indians as everybody thought they are in India. Some time I get a feeling that probably there is a strong relationship between the [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]
