Capturing Fishermen Catching Fish in Pondicherry

Fishermen Catching Fish In Pondicherry   I first missed not knowing how to shoot a video first when I saw this skirmish between a Cunning Fox and Eagle in Tal Chapar Rajasthan. I talked with a few photographers and what clearly emerged from my discussion : Still photographs capture the moment better and they give a very sharp image. If your picture is good a single picture can tell the story. Capturing videos is much more complicated and you need to do a lot of editing and sound mixing which is not everybody’s cup of tea. Though now you [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

Remembering those taken by Tsunami in Pondicherry-India

Shrine remembering-Tsunami in Pondicherry India   While I was walking on the beach in Pondicherry just outside of our hotel I found this small shrine,. This was nothing more than a small hut with a few small idols makes by local potter and a few of them were outside the hut. Some of the idols had broken heads, and it was clear that nobody is taking care of them. I was wondering about  the small shrine in the hut, so I started asking about the same to find something more. One of the managers at the hotels who have [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

Pondicherry is one of the most beautiful beach, and historical cities in India. With Bay of Bengal on one side and surrounded by Tamil Nadu on all others it used to be a French Colony in a predominantly British India. Last week I was in Pondicherry for this trip after almost 2 years and had dual purpose of revisiting Pondicherry as well as to attend a marriage. In this post I am just posting some random pictures from Pondicherry and detailed posts will follow soon. In this post let me talk about the marriage. The Hedgehog of Forest Rest House in Tal Chapar Rajasthan

The mysterious little Hedgehog of Forest Rest House Tal Chapar Rajasthan   Let me be honest the moment the word Forest Rest house comes to my mind, a rickety old bungalow with no power and plumbing comes to mind, with an old Chowkidar with a lantern who does not cast a shadow completing the picture. So when Shreeram MV of Darter informed me that we will be staying in Forest Rest House in Tal Chapar Rajasthan, I was mentally prepared to rough it out in the middle of the jungle. Surrounded by beautiful Indian acacia trees with fragrant yellow flowers, [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

Bhandara for Breakfast-On way to Kanha National Park

Great Breakfast on the Way to Kanha National Park One of the little joys of traveling is discovering little joints that serve excellent food in hygienic conditions. Frequent road travelers in India will agree that it is not an easy task. You get a lot of places with food that will make your salivary glands work overtime but normally the hygiene is something you just have to ignore. Let me talk about one such little place we discovered on our trip to Kanha National park in Madhya Pradesh. This was a trip with GHAC and my friend Sunanda Mandavi was leading the group, [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

The Cunning Fox of Tal Chhapar Rajasthan

Observing Animal Behaviour in Wild- Encounter between a Fox & an Eagle  The Cunning Fox Ever since our childhood, we keep on reading about the smaller carnivores of the jungles of India. The Wolf is portrayed as a ruthless killer, the jackal as sly, and the hyena as despicable all stereotypes worthy of further debate and investigation. But it is the fox that takes a special place in jungle lore and has maximum stories dedicated to her. From the fox that could not reach the sour grapes to the Chalak Lomdee ( चालाक लोमड़ी or The Clever Fox) in Aesop’s fables. Then [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]

Under The Mango Tree In Hampi

Under The Mango Tree: A unique Hampi Experience Many moons ago in the first 007 movie “Dr. No”, Ursula Andress, emerged from the Caribbean island lagoon, in a bikini so hot that the island burst into flames by the end of the movie. She was humming the lines…   “Underneath the mango tree Me honey and me can watch for the moon Underneath the mango tree Me honey and me make boolooloop soon Underneath the moonlit sky Me honey and I can sit hand in hand…..”   That my friends is our connection of the bond babe with Hampi’s most famous [Continue Reading By Clicking Here…]
